Full bodied, yet graceful and smooth on the palate, this wine is delicious now but will show well for years to come. Characterized by black, brambly fruit, pepper and warm spices.

 Barbera (50%), Petit Verdot (10%) and Petite Sirah (20%) and Syrah (20%).

Twenty-nine Pinot Noir barrels from the Bohème single-vineyard program were selected for the 2018 vintage of West Pole Pinot Noir. Each component was estate-grown (including six Pinot Noir selections averaging 30% whole cluster fermentation) and aged 22 months in 10% new French Oak barrels.

93 Points Wine Spectator Ripe but fresh, this lets alluring boysenberry and mulberry notes stretch out slowly, with a mix of singed apple wood and anise playing a supporting role. Reveals light bramble and violet hints that peek in on the well-fruited finish. Shows good embedded energy. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Petit Verdot. Best from 2023 through 2035. —J.M.
