Super Odd Wine Facts.

We all know wine is fun, but let’s look at the frightening facts of wine. Because that’s fun, too! With wine’s long history coupled with its continuing popularity, it makes for an endlessly entertaining discussion - while enjoying some wine of course.

Cobra Wine

Cobra Wine - Cool name right? Wondering which varietal it could be? Wonder no more. It’s rice wine with snake blood in it. Yum! Order it in Vietnam and they will bring the snake to your bar seat or table and kill it on the spot. We’re guessing it keeps the blood fresh?

Wine Phobia

Wine Phobia - Yes, it’s really a thing and it’s called oenophobia. We all have phobias, or at least know someone who has a few. An intense fear and hatred of wine has been given an actual name; most likely by psychoanalyst wine lovers who were intensely annoyed of people ruining their parties. The general analysis is oenophobia is a combination of a traumatic event and heredity genetics. We’re guessing maybe they attended a wine tasting turned hostage situation, and at the same time the victim discovered they had an allergy?

Cork-tease - Don’t be this guy! A cork-tease is someone who constantly talks about the wine he or she will open, but never does. You know that person. You’ve been to that party. A few bottles in and you and other guests dare each other to decant the damn thing just to watch the host lose their minds. Good times!

A Boon to the Community

A Boon to the Community -  Throughout the ages wine has been a tremendous boon to its community. Buying wine supported multiple community institutions. We’ve all heard about churches and monasteries, but have you heard of wine funding hospitals and universities? Hotel-Dieu a beautiful museum in Beaune, France and was once a wine-endowed hospital.

Those are this week's fun facts.
They are tried, tested, and approved ice-breakers to quote at your next wine-tasting and/or party.
Cheers to community support, mental health, and don’t be a cork-tease!
